Professional artists share their time and talent with gifted students

Valentine Parker is a professional sculptor and a volunteer in the ARTreach Mentoring through Art Program. She is currently working with students at Morton Ranch Junior High to share some of her best tricks of the trade, including how to incorporate Bauhaus design techniques to create works of art using clay and unique hand made glazes. Valentine is pictured with student artist Pedro Coronado (7th grade). Pedro is a gifted artist and was enrolled in the pilot ARTreach Mentoring through Art Program in 5th grade by his teachers at Odessa Kilpatrick Elementary. Pedro is now in 7th grade at Morton Ranch Junior High, and over the years has had an opportunity to work with numerous artists in the community through the ARTreach Mentoring Program. His skills lean towards architectural rendering, and fine art illustration. Over the next six weeks, Valentine will teach Pedro how to sculpt with clay.
