Katy ARTreach brings the arts to troubled youth through our partnerships with foster care service providers including Lutheran Social Serves and DePelchin, and through Juvenile Probation Departments in Harris and Fort Bend County. ARTreach mentors and volunteers help youth to recognize and build positive relationships. Art Programs support Educational Programs (through applied TEKS), as well as Spiritual Care and Worship through a variety of inspirational and motivations art, dance and music programs.

Many of our troubled youth are in the foster care or probation system. Children in residential treatment are suffering from behavioral and emotional problems, often as the result of abuse and neglect. All children need to be exposed to the arts, but troubled youth need to be given more opportunities to experience Art, Drama, Music and Dance. Art is an incredible vehicle for self-expression. Art can be utilized and developed as a coping mechanism for anger and depression, and can provide a valuable communication outlet for many of these children. Art can teach valuable skills associated with communicating in non-violent, non self-destructive manners.

Katy ARTreach will design art programs specific to the community served. The Arts in Education program can incorporates weekly art classes, theater programs, artist and composer in residence programs, field trips to museums, local artist studios along with jazz and classical music concerts.

Music and Dance programs and general assemblies supporting spiritual care can are uplifting and hopeful. Many of our Katy ARTreach artists are formerly troubled youth, and their testimony is inspirational.

Katy ARTreach seeks necessary funding and subsidies through collaboration with other non-profit art organizations providing outreach programs designed to enrich the lives of the underprivileged.
